Project context
The TRAFIN OIL industrial site operates its own PV plant, whose output naturally varies throughout the day depending on current conditions.
The battery storage system complements local generation with the ability to store part of the electricity produced and use it when operations actually need it.
The result is a decentralised energy system that connects on-site generation, storage and consumption directly at the point of operation.
Technical solution
The project consists of two TESLA GAMA 233 battery storage systems installed directly at the customer's industrial site.
Key technical parameters
- number of battery storage systems: 2,
- power per BESS: approx. 100 kW,
- capacity per BESS: 233 kWh,
- total power: 200 kW,
- total capacity: 466 kWh,
- design: TESLA GAMA 233,
- use: storage of PV energy, consumption management and energy flexibility.
The delivery also included the installation of associated equipment, commissioning of the system and operator training.
Greater use of on-site PV generation
One of the main functions of the battery system is storing surplus electricity generated by the PV plant.
Energy that is not consumed on site at the moment it is generated can be stored in the batteries and used later during periods of higher consumption.
This makes it possible to increase the share of self-generated energy consumed directly on site and to reduce the operation's dependence on instantaneous grid draw.
Active management of the site's energy profile
The battery storage system does more than just store energy.
It also enables active management of power flows between PV generation, the battery, the site's consumption and the distribution grid.
The system thus creates scope for:
- optimising self-consumption,
- balancing differences between generation and consumption,
- managing power flows,
- reducing consumption peaks,
- more efficient operation of the local energy system,
- future use of energy flexibility.
Scope for providing flexibility
By integrating the battery storage system, the industrial site gains a fast, controllable energy asset that can respond to current operational needs.
In addition to optimising self-consumption, the battery also creates a technical basis for further use of flexibility, should the site's operational and commercial setup allow it.
The BESS thereby becomes an active part of the energy system rather than just passive energy storage.
Comprehensive delivery
The project included:
- supply of 2× TESLA GAMA 233,
- installation of the battery storage systems and associated equipment,
- integration into the site's local energy system,
- commissioning of the system,
- operator training.
The result is a fully integrated battery solution ready for day-to-day operation at an industrial site.
Project outcome
The TRAFIN OIL project combines on-site PV generation, battery storage and consumption management into a single decentralised energy system.
The 200 kW / 466 kWh battery storage system makes it possible to:
- store locally generated electricity from the PV plant,
- increase the use of self-generated power,
- optimise the industrial site's consumption,
- actively manage the site's energy profile,
- create scope for further use of flexibility.
The result is a more efficient and more controllable local energy system in which generation, storage and consumption work together as one integrated whole.
