Project context
The Avia Letňany site already uses several CHP units operated by the investor.
Adding a battery storage system creates a more flexible energy system in which electricity generation from cogeneration can be combined with fast, controllable storage.
The battery makes it possible to respond to the current situation on site and to energy market requirements, expanding the ways in which the existing energy infrastructure can be used.
Technical solution
The system is built around a battery storage system with an output of 1 MW and a capacity of 4 MWh using EVE battery modules.
Key parameters
- power: 1 MW,
- capacity: 4 MWh,
- battery technology: TESLA BESS container with EVE cells,
- location: Avia Letňany,
- use: commercial and technical flexibility.
Integration with CHP units
Locating the battery at a site with several CHP units creates favourable conditions for efficient energy management.
CHP units are a controllable source of electricity generation, while the battery can respond very quickly to changes in power and the needs of the energy system.
Combining these technologies therefore increases the overall flexibility of the site.
Commercial and technical flexibility
TEDOM acts as a flexibility aggregator and will use the battery storage system to trade its power and capacity.
The battery can be used in particular for:
- commercial optimisation on energy markets,
- capturing electricity price spreads,
- providing technical flexibility,
- rapid response to power system requirements.
Thanks to its fast response and precise power control, the battery storage system is an ideal addition to an aggregated portfolio of flexible resources.
Project outcome
The 1 MW / 4 MWh battery storage system expands the existing energy infrastructure of the Avia Letňany site with a significant storage and flexibility asset.
The project combines EVE battery technology, cogeneration sources and TEDOM's experience in flexibility aggregation.
The result is an energy system ready for active commercial use of the battery and the provision of technical flexibility to the power system.
