200 kW / 466 kWh, 2024

About the project

ENVIROPOL, a subsidiary of the ASEKOL group, specialises in processing end-of-life electrical waste. Following the installation of a photovoltaic plant, we supplied two Gama 233 battery storage units with a combined 200 kW of power and 466 kWh of capacity to optimise energy management.

Project background and objectives

ENVIROPOL, a subsidiary of the ASEKOL group, specialises in processing end-of-life electrical waste. This operation is highly energy-intensive, so the first step was to install a photovoltaic plant. Subsequently, as part of optimising energy management, the decision was made to implement a battery energy storage system (BESS) to make the most efficient use of the energy generated.

Solution and technical specification

Given the needs of the operation, the priority was not high power but sufficient capacity. The chosen solution therefore consists of two Gama 233 storage units manufactured by TESLA Energy Group, with a combined power of 200 kW and a total capacity of 466 kWh.

Each Gama 233 unit is compact, measuring 1400 × 1350 × 2100 mm, and integrates:

  • liquid-cooled CATL battery modules,
  • two inverters,
  • a chiller (heat pump that keeps the battery cells at a stable temperature),
  • a fire suppression system with a pressure vessel containing inert gas,
  • advanced EMAN 24 control software for optimising BESS operation.

Functionality and benefits

Both Gama 233 units work closely with the photovoltaic plant, and their primary role is peak shaving. Importantly, all energy from the batteries is used exclusively within the ENVIROPOL site, with no export to the distribution grid.

A key advantage of the Gama 233 system is its scalability – in future, the existing solution can be expanded to as many as six identical storage units without having to deal with differences in the age of individual battery modules. Each Gama 233 is equipped with its own BMS and balances its cells independently, ensuring long-term stability and operational efficiency.

Control software and integration

Flowbox supervisory control software was implemented across the site, integrating the BESS with the PV system and optimising overall energy management.

Outcome and outlook

By implementing two Gama 233 BESS units, ENVIROPOL has gained an energy-efficient solution that enables:

  • optimised energy consumption and reduced peak demand,
  • maximum use of self-generated energy,
  • future scaling of the system to up to six Gama 233 units,
  • stable and safe operation thanks to integrated safety features and control by EMAN 24 software.

The project is an effective example of using modern battery storage in industrial operations, where not only cost savings but also energy stability and sustainability play a key role.
