Project context
The energy profile of agricultural and industrial sites is characterised by variable loads and differing power requirements throughout the day.
A battery storage system makes it possible to respond actively to these changes and to manage electricity consumption so that the site operates more efficiently and predictably.
The project in Jevíčko therefore combines two main objectives:
- optimisation of the local energy system,
- use of the battery as a tradable flexible resource.
Technical solution
The project is built around a TESLA battery storage system with an output of 1 MW and a capacity of 2.4 MWh.
Key technical parameters
- power: 1 MW,
- capacity: 2.4 MWh,
- design: TESLA industrial BESS,
- integration: into the site's energy system,
- use: load management, peak shaving, reserved capacity optimisation and flexibility.
The delivery also included the supply of associated equipment, complete installation, commissioning and integration of the battery system into the site's existing energy infrastructure.
Load profile management
One of the main functions of the battery storage system is active management of the load profile.
The battery can respond to instantaneous changes in the site's load and supply part of the required power during periods of higher consumption.
This makes it possible to:
- smooth the load profile,
- limit short-term power peaks,
- make more efficient use of the available grid connection capacity,
- reduce the load on the site's energy infrastructure.
Peak shaving and reserved capacity
The battery system makes it possible to limit maximum grid draw in a targeted way.
Whenever the site's consumption is heading towards a higher power peak, the battery can supply the necessary power and thereby reduce the draw from the grid.
This creates scope for optimising reserved capacity and managing the energy costs associated with running the site more efficiently.
Local savings and commercial flexibility
A key strength of the project is the combination of two ways of using a single battery system.
On the one hand, the BESS is used to optimise the local energy system and manage the site's consumption.
On the other hand, its spare power and capacity can be used for:
- balancing services,
- commercial flexibility,
- other forms of controlled battery use on energy markets.
The battery storage system can therefore generate value not only through savings at the point of consumption but also through active commercial use.
A flexible energy asset
The 1 MW BESS acts as a fast, controllable asset whose operation can be adapted to the site's current needs.
Depending on the situation, its priority can be to:
- support the site's own energy operations,
- limit consumption peaks,
- optimise reserved capacity,
- provide flexibility to the energy market.
It is precisely the ability to combine several operating modes that increases the overall utilisation of the battery system.
Project outcome
The result is a 1 MW / 2.4 MWh battery storage system that expands the energy system of Hanácká zemědělská společnost with an actively controlled flexible resource.
The project makes it possible to:
- optimise the load profile,
- reduce power peaks,
- make more efficient use of reserved capacity,
- manage the site's energy operations,
- use the battery for balancing services and commercial flexibility.
The result is a flexible energy solution that combines local optimisation of consumption with the possibility of actively using the battery on energy markets.
